Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH & FW)

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, also known by its abbreviation MoH&FW, is an Indian government ministry responsible for health policy in India. The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare plays a pivotal role in implementing various national programs related to health, family welfare, the prevention and control of major communicable diseases, and the promotion of traditional and indigenous systems of medicine.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare comprises two departments: the Department of Health & Family Welfare and the Department of Health Research, each headed by the Secretary to the Government of India.

Under the purview of the Department of Health & Family Welfare, there is the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), which operates as part of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in India. The NCVBDC aims to create a self-sustaining and well-informed population, striving for a healthy India that is free from vector-borne diseases. The program is committed to providing equitable access to quality healthcare services, readily available in proximity to people's residences.

The program's activities are aligned with the Millennium Development Goal of halting and reversing the incidence of malaria and other vector-borne diseases by the year 2015, thereby contributing to the reduction of poverty.
